Emirates NBD India branches to join RBL Bank: what borrowers should check
RBI has approved the amalgamation of Emirates NBD Bank P.J.S.C.’s Indian branches with RBL Bank Limited. The effective date is 1 December 2026. From that date, those branches will operate as RBL Bank branches. If you borrow through an affected branch, ask your bank for written guidance about your loan account and repayment arrangements.

What has RBI confirmed?
The announcement is dated 16 October 2026. RBI has sanctioned the scheme under Section 44A(4) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The notice identifies Emirates NBD’s Indian branches as the transferor and RBL Bank Limited as the transferee. Amalgamation means combining the specified banking operations under the approved scheme.
This announcement covers Emirates NBD’s Indian branches. Do not read it as a merger of the banks’ entire global businesses. The branch change takes effect on 1 December; the approval date and the effective date are different.
What should an affected borrower ask before 1 December?
The following is a preparation checklist, not a statement that any of these account details will change. Ask your existing bank contact for answers specific to your facility.
1. Loan account and servicing contact. Will your loan reference stay the same? Which branch or team will issue statements, answer queries and handle service requests after the effective date?
2. Repayment instructions. Does your existing automatic debit or repayment mandate need any action? Ask for the date and written instructions if the bank requires a change. Do not redirect a repayment simply because you receive an unverified message about the amalgamation.
3. Rate, fees and repayment schedule. Ask whether the bank is proposing any change under your contract and request the relevant notice. The RBI press release does not announce a new loan rate, EMI discount or fee waiver.
4. Pending applications and undisbursed amounts. If your facility is approved but not fully disbursed, ask which team will handle the remaining steps, whether documents need updating and how any scheduled payment will be handled. Do not assume an approval or disbursement deadline from this announcement.
5. Secured-loan documents. If property or another asset secures your facility, ask how records, document-custody queries and any future release request will be handled. This is a question to verify with the bank, not confirmation of a changed process.
Keep one written record of the bank’s instructions
Save your latest loan statement, repayment schedule and the bank’s written response together. Note your question, the response date, the named team and any action deadline. If a message contradicts the instructions you already hold, verify it through a contact you have independently checked before acting.
For an estimate based on the amount, rate and tenure you enter, use the Quick Disburse EMI calculator. A calculation is an illustration; it does not confirm your bank’s terms or a change caused by this amalgamation.
Common questions
Will my EMI change automatically?
The RBI announcement does not specify a change to your EMI, rate or repayment schedule. Ask the bank for a facility-specific answer. Do not treat the branch announcement as permission to pause or change a repayment.
Does every RBL Bank borrower need to move their account?
The notice says that Emirates NBD’s Indian branches will function as RBL Bank branches from 1 December 2026. It does not announce a general account-migration requirement for all existing RBL borrowers.
Has Quick Disburse become a servicing agent for either bank?
No such appointment is claimed here. Quick Disburse is a loan facilitator, not a lender or a substitute for your bank’s loan-servicing team. Approval, amount, rate, tenure, fees, valuation and disbursement remain lender-dependent.
